JohnnyWow! prefers to paint large and creates a two or three paintings a month. Most paintings are now done in water based acrylic media, some with additional airbrushed elements. None are portraits of individuals; these are character studies of individuals noted in passing, seen from a distance, or caught in images in pop culture.
The on-going Flood Series was inspired by images and dreams of the New Orleans Flood JohnnyWow! has an aversion to water, and these personal issues made the flood all the more poignant and disturbing. He has never been to New Orleans.
Most of the paintings on canvas are on primed un-stretched canvas. The paintings are $2,500 each, The un-stretched paintings can be shipped rolled, and then stretched for the customer by their local frame shop, saving crating and shipping costs. Stretched works are available unframed, crating and shipping are not included, although JohnnyWow! could probably be coaxed into personal delivery within reasonable distances.
